T3i Shutter Count

I wanted to sell my camera so it was important to know shutter count or actuation in my camera to set a sensible price. I did some research and came up with some options to get the shutter count. Workflowy free.

  • Check DLSR shutter count and EXIF info (Max file size 30M) Shutter Count info exist in most Nikon, Pantax DLSR and Canon 1D series DSLR. Nikon's NEF, Pentax's DNG and PEF, Canon's CR2 raw file format are supported. To upload a photo file, click on the button below. Drag-and-drop is supported in Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi browser.

  • Fujifilm X-T30 shutter count. Fujifilm embeds information on the number of actuations that the shutter of a X-T30 has undertaken in EXIF data. These metadata are saved alongside each and every image file. EXIF-readers, such as the App below, can read this information and, thus, convey how many shots a camera has taken so far.

This is how you find the shutter count on some Canon DSLR cameras. You need to have Magic Lantern installed to do so. It is not hard to install. Look through the viewfinder, focus the subject, then press the shutter button completely. You can check the self-timer operation with the self-timer lamp, beeper, and countdown display (in seconds) on the LCD monitor. Two seconds before the picture is taken, the self-timer lamp will stay on and the beeper will sound faster.

  • Magic lantern
  • Photoshop
  • Uploading images on a website

None of these options worked for me. I have not installed Magic Lantern, this is yet another beast to learn to install on my camera. Someone suggested that we find count in Photoshop file information, this did not work for me. I found the website where you can upload an image to get shutter count, this did not work for me either.

Solution

I found a lightweight tool which works for many Canon models. I have tested this on my Canon 600d aka T3i on windows 10 64 bit OS, this worked as expected.
