Shutter Count M50

Many people ask how many shutter counts will last their camera. Because the camera can be used in many environments, the shutter life always depends on the usage of the camera.

The EOS M50 delivers improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF for fast, accurate autofocus that helps you get the photo you want right as the moment happens. When used with the EF-M 15–45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens, the autofocus area includes up to 99 AF points within an 80% x 80% range, and can be expanded up to 143 AF points to cover an image area of approx. 88% horizontal by 100% vertical when combined. For the RP it apparently (according to the article) reports shutter count but only to the nearest thousand which depending on your needs may or may not be good enough. Beyond that its either using the Magic Lantern firmware (not even sure if that works on the RP atm and has its own inherent dangers) or finding a friend with a mac to use the. Tornado Shutter Counter. Shutter, Mirror, Errors Counter Viewer for Canon and Nikon Cameras Supported all of 70 actual models.

If you use the camera for sports photography or wild life or timelapses where you use continous burst shots or in dirty environments like on beach where small sand dust can enter your camera when you change your lens this can lower the camera shutter life.

Also for cameras with live preview it seems that the shutter actually is used just like for taking photos, so that also counts to your shutter life, but when shooting in live view it seems that the shutter shock is much lower so this actually could help.
